Still Life Cooperative

Still Life Cooperative is an affordable community development designed with low-income seniors and single mothers in mind. This project aims to focus on the growing need for generational interdependence and sustainable living as a solution to rising trends in isolation related depression in seniors, unaffordable housing options and a community environment to support single mothers and their families.

Still Life Cooperative will provide a healthy option for Seniors living on Social Security in a community lifestyle setting that will provide support and purpose. With the integration of generational diversity, the intention of this project is to reverse the negative effects of the age restricted Senior living model that has contributed to a rise in isolation related depression. Likewise, Single mothers struggling to balance quality of life with financial responsibilities, will have the affordable living option with a supportive community of surrogate grand-parents and a safe place for their children run, play and learn about our environmental and cooperative living responsibilities.

Phase one of this Project will concentrate on:

  • Securing 3 - 5 acres of undeveloped or partially developed land in Western Washington,

  • Obtaining the assistance of College Students in fields relating to Urban Planning, Sustainability, Environmental Construction and Agriculture,

  • Construction of a structure to house the project manager, office and provide future common areas for residents.

Still Life Cooperative is a grassroots community project. While utilizing all available local, State and Federal funding sources and incentives, most project resources will be donations and in-kind contributions from those who believe in the mission. Please help create this awesome community model and make it the first of its kind.
