THE MINDFUL MENTORS PROJECT pairs Foster High School Students with 2nd-5th graders  at Tukwila Elementary school. Teen Mentors go through a 26 hour reciprocal-learning based training program that includes foundations in trauma informed care, contemplative embodiment practices, mindfulness, storytelling, Social Emotional Learning and R.U.L.E.R. With adult mentor guidance, Mentors continue learning and practicing these skills as they co-facilitate small group, near-peer mentoring sessions for 2nd-5th grade students.

Project Leader

Damithia Nieves (she/they), Thrive Yoga Founder, is a dedicated practitioner, educator and tenacious advocate of self-care, community care, and disrupting dominant narratives that derail our personal growth and healing.

She is a 200-hour registered yoga teacher, certified children’s yoga teacher, and trauma informed restorative practice facilitator. Damithia is passionate about facilitating the deep healing work around race and social justice, especially as it intersects with yoga and wellness.
