Trans Day of Remembrance

  • Hal Holmes Community Center 209 North Ruby Street Ellensburg, WA, 98926 United States (map)

Join Pride of Ellensburg, a project of CascadiaNow!, in honoring and celebrating the lives of Trans individuals through community discussion and viewing the newly released documentary "The Death and Life of Marsha P. Johnson".

"The Transgender Day of Remembrance was set aside to memorialize those who were killed due to anti-transgender hatred or prejudice. The event is held in November to honor Rita Hester, whose murder on November 28th, 1998 kicked off the “Remembering Our Dead” web project and a San Francisco candlelight vigil in 1999. Rita Hester’s murder — like most anti-transgender murder cases — has yet to be solved." (

We will be showing this documentary focused on the investigation of the death of Marsha P. Johnson, known as one of the mothers of the LGBT rights movement. She was a catalyst in the Stonewall Riots, and a prominent advocate for the Trans community.

This is a free event.
