Giant Puppets hit the Streets for WXM March!
The Seattle Cascadia Arts Collective helped create 9 different giant puppets for the Seattle Women's March on January 21st, each one featuring a different, powerful, diverse women who has had a lasting impact and legacy on this country and world.
The Cascadian Times: Inauguration Edition
In a renegade guerrilla art project, copies of a satirical Cascadian Times seemed to crop up in newspaper boxes around Cascadia the of Inauguration day. Did we say satirical? We meant it presented 'Alternative Facts', which we are pretty sure makes it entirely true.
J19: Guerrilla Art School was a huge success!
On the eve of the inauguration, we helped host a self proclaimed 'Guerrilla Art School' at the Columbia City Church of Hope in Seattle. Throughout the night, more than 200 people filtered in and out, packing the church basement rendering the dozens of tables, and every inch floor space into DIY arts and crafts centers for sign and banner making, silkscreening, stencil making, before folks divided up and hit the streets!

Cascadia Convoy to Standing Rock
On November 11th, CascadiaNow! teamed up with the Backbone Campaign to send a convoy of nearly 50 people, 28 winterized tipi's each that sleep 12 water protectors, and a ton of medical supplies, resources and tools! One bus, one box truck, two passenger vans and an SUV :)
Cascadia was spotted repping at the 2016 VancouFUR convention in Richmond, BC this year. They got some great press coverage after a group of Syrian refugees ended up at the same hotel, and heartfelt experiences were had.

'An Alternative Theory' by Whealon Costello and Danny Grange
It's Raining, man! - the above picture is a brand new mural created by two of our lovely Cascadian artists Whealon Costello and Danny Grange who completed it over Saturday and Sunday at our 2015 Cascadia Rainingman festival at the Music on the Mounds near Littlerock, WA. The mural depicts the 'Alternative Theory' of the real purpose of the Mima mounds.

Cascadia Patch spotted at the 'Octopus Tree' at Cape Meares by Chris Allen
A beautiful picture by Chris Allen of the Octopus Tree at Cape Meares lighthouse near Netarts Oregon. he Octopus Tree is a massive Sitka spruce with branches growing like giant tentacles from its 50-foot base. It is situated approximately 600 feet from the scenic viewpoint. The tree’s odd shape, according to local historians and Tillamook tribal descendants, comes not from the ravages of wind, as some have said, but from its function as a ceremonial site, shaped to hold cedar canoes and other ritual objects.

Kevin Zelko Summits Mt Rainier with Supporters Shield
This past weekend, Gorilla FC captain Kevin Zelko and his amazing team scaled Mt. Rainier with the (26lb) Cascadia Supporters Shield after raising more than $45,000 to fight breast cancer, and for the Fred Hutch research center. This climb was especially important for Kevin, who overcame his own battle with Hodgkins Lymphoma earlier this year. A huge congratulations Kevin Zelko, Cory Murchy, Eric Tringale, Jonathan Zwickel and Joe Hammill.

Cascadia Doug on Display for Opening Ceremony of CascadiaCup Match
Nice shot of the Sounders FC featuring the Cascadia Doug flag for their last Cascadia Cup match between the Seattle Sounders and Vancouver Whitecaps. The match, which took place Saturday, August 1st, resulted in the Whitecaps beating the Sounders FC 3-0, and had a huge attendance of 53,125 fans.

The Cascadia Bus!
Our Cascadia Bus was acquired earlier this year by CascadiaNow! Executive Director Brandon Letsinger. It was formerly the Free Range Mercantile, visible in the West Seattle neighborhood. It's new and wonderful paint just was completed July 16th-20th by a wonderful and talented team of artists including Jonathan Fischer, Whealon Costello and Tanner Colvin before putting it in use as the shuttle to CascadiaNW! Keep your eyes on the road!
