Thank you to all the Cascadians who joined us in celebrating our first ever Cascadian Culture week! From libraries hosting Cascadia Displays, to barbeques, concerts and events - we had an absolutely lovely week. Our executive director also helped host two ask me anything's in Reddit, several lovely articles about Cascadia & Bioregionalism, and an interview in the Seattle MET also came out that week!
For Cascadians in the Seattle area, we are very excited to share the creation of a Seattle Cascadia Arts Collective. Starting to help build an awesome float for the Fremont Solstice Parade, the SCAC grew out of the idea to represent Cascadia & CascadiaNow at events, and to use art as a force for positive social change throughout the Pacific Northwest. Active as an informal group of artists, poets, and Cascadians for the last two years, they are continued to grow in size and scope, officially becoming a core program of CascadiaNow! this year.
The Cascadia HQ is a renegade art and community space being built by members of Seattle CascadiaNow! to serve as shared offices, studio space for working artists, workshop space, as well as being large enough to host presentations, movies, potlucks, classes, art builds, storage and of course a parking space for the Cascadia bus, all within a space that can help show the principles of Cascadia, as well as teach.
The CascadiaNow! family keeps on growing and this time our board of directors has unanimously accepted Vibrant Palette Arts Center (VPAC) as our newest project. VPAC's mission is to serve adult artists with developmental, mental, and physical disabilities by providing a professional studio environment for artistic growth in a social atmosphere among peers.
