01/24/2015 Announcement – CN! Website

Any glaring (yes) problems, or need to get a hold of us? cascadianow@gmail.com

Welcome to our new website! We are just now beginning to transfer things, so please bear with us as we horribly mangle, destroy and switch things over in the next week. With our technical expertise, we estimate these inconveniences to last no longer than two to three decades.

CascadiaMap

If we dropped a glass dome over Vancouver, Seattle and Portland – how big would that dome need to be for our region to be truly independent and sustainable?

The answer is Cascadia, a unique coastal bioregion that defines the Pacific Northwest of the United States and Canada, incorporating British Columbia, Washington, Oregon, parts of Idaho, southern Alaska and northern California. This area is in many ways geographically, culturally, economically and environmentally distinct from surrounding regions.

CascadiaNow! is a grassroots, non-profit, social movement organization dedicated to empowering individuals and communities in the Pacific Northwest. In addition, we provide resources and direct services to groups, projects, and community partners to raise awareness of Cascadia, celebrate our distinct regional identity and culture, and increase the independence of the Cascadia bioregion.

For us, Cascadia is a lens to reframe and break down larger and intangible issues onto a local level where change is happening on a daily basis – and a scale where connections make sense. We want to transform our society so that each each person can be their own agent of change around what they feel important, and shift away from the idea that somehow a voting box every four years will solve our problems.

We hope you’ll join us.
